Field safety assessments moved onto offline iPads
Artigence moved an Australian welding supplier's equipment safety assessments from a web application onto the iPads their own inspectors carry on site, working fully offline.
The Challenge
The client's inspectors assess welding and oxygen equipment at customer sites, often without reliable signal, against a large and branching rule set, and the assessment report had to be produced from what was actually found on site.
Our Approach
An iPad app that carries the whole assessment, every question and branching path, on the device, so it works with no signal. Behind it, a cloud database of customer sites, their QR-coded equipment, assessments and users, and server-side PDF reports generated from what the inspector found.
The Results
The client's inspectors run complete assessments on the iPad with no connection: 304 questions across 13 equipment types (ARC, MIG, TIG and more), 556 hazards and 1,581 control measures, with a 5x5 risk matrix. Hazard photos taken on the iPad go straight into the customer's PDF assessment report. Each iPad can only add photos, never read or delete them, so one customer's photos stay out of reach of everyone else. Completed assessments sync when the iPad reconnects.
